WELCOME & WORSHIP
REV. DILLER'S DEPLOYMENT
Dear Congregation and Friends of OPPC:
This is an announcement of two important gatherings.
1. An "Information Meeting" will be held immediately following worship on June 16th for the congregation to hear information regarding the possible military deployment of our pastor later this year.
2. A Congregational Meeting will be held on June 23 following worship for the purpose of the congregation hearing and voting on a proposed change to the Military Terms of Call. The motion to come before the congregation is as follows:
"That the congregation of Orange Park Presbyterian Church agree to amend the Military Terms of Call, Paragraph 4 as follows:
Mobilization and Deployment: If the pastor is involuntarily mobilized, the pastor will exhaust all Annual Training and vacation days for the current year, at which point a military leave of absence will be granted. All salary and benefits shall continue for the first thirty days. *For the following 90 days OPPC shall continue payments of full Board of Pension dues. If the mobilization continues beyond 90 days, OPPC shall continue benefits as required by federal law. **Following the initial 30 days, Salary and Housing Allowance will cease, Board of Pension Dues will continue.
(Note: The practice of providing Board of Pensions (BOP) dues for mobilized pastors is common though not universal in Presbyterian circles. The main purpose is to provide stability of medical care for the family. A family that goes from BOP to Tricare risks needing to change doctors, providers, etc. for that period.)
