CHILDREN’S AND FAMILIES MINISTRIES

CHildren's ministry

Children’s Ministry at OPPC is constantly growing and changing to serve the needs of our children and families. Our purpose is to serve our youngest family members (ages 0-12) and grow them into strong followers of Christ.

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14

Sunday Morning Programs

Our Sunday morning programs are a great starting place for children to get involved, and we have several options for you. Check out our schedule below, and if you have any other questions we can answer for you, we’re happy to talk to you over the phone, e-mail you, or meet with you to help you figure it all out.

Sunday School

9:15 a.m.

Nursery

Ages 0 - 4 years old

We offer families more than just Sunday mornings, there are so many opportunities to grow in their faith, strengthen their spiritual knowledge and become part of one family here at OPPC. As an outreach to our community and our church family we have started a Fall Family Festival and a Family Easter Festival with activities that offer safe, family fun. Theme based on the season. These festivals are a great way for us to reach out to the community and have a great time interacting with fellow church members. These 2 family fun events require a large number of volunteers and is an easy way to "try it out" without making a long term commitment. These events are great for all ages to volunteer because the need varies so much from sitting at a booth, decorating an area or helping make drinks.

Summers are sizzling Vacation Bible School (ages 3-12)

We have volunteer positions available in all aspects of Children’s Worship from toddlers through High School age children. What do you need to qualify? The answer is easy- a love for Christ and a heart willing to share his word with the children of our church and guests. There is no specific commitment required - it can be on Sunday mornings - once a month, twice a month, every other week or every other month; it can be for family events; summer camps; decorating committees; mission projects and/or recruiting donations.

If Sunday volunteering is not for you, this camp is a great opportunity to jump in and help out! There are several ways you can serve during this camp- praying, donations, decorating, prep work, station leader and/or leading a small group of kids. Not only will you have a great time with the kids but it gives you the opportunity to get to know your church family better.

No matter how small the hand, it can be used to help others. This is why we are committed to teaching our children that by serving others we are serving God. Our hand can be God’s hand for a person in need. We teach, promote and organize local community mission projects quarterly- the Backpack Project, hygiene kits for the City Rescue Mission Center, the Angel Tree, supplies for care packages for the troops, toy drive for Clothes Closet, etc. This is a great way to be more involved and set an example for others by donating your time to help organize one of these mission projects.

Here at OPPC, we know that our children represent the future of the church and the world we live in.

Please pray about how you can be a part of this life-changing ministry…we all know how fast the time goes by, and especially for kids growing up in today’s culture it’s too important to wait another moment longer.
